Our Founder's Message
Nsiona Impact is more than an organization – it is a culmination of resilience, faith, and a deeply rooted belief in the transformative power of collective action. My journey began in Kinshasa in the early 1970s, where I was born into a world rich with culture and complexity. At a very young age, I was adopted by a white Belgian family living in Kinshasa, and my adoptive father, Robert Defise, was a close friend of my biological father, Nsiona Kuzubula Ignace. This unique relationship gave me a dual cultural heritage, instilling in me an ability to bridge perspectives and embrace diversity from an early age.
Growing up in Belgium, I faced institutional barriers to my ambitions, yet resilience and faith propelled me forward. I pursued my education at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and began my professional journey at the very bottom of the ladder, navigating systemic challenges along the way. Through perseverance, opportunities unfolded, leading me to a 25 year career in fixed income within asset management – 18 of which I spent investing in Emerging Markets Fixed Income. Inspired by my late father, Nsiona Kuzubula Ignace, who overcame immense adversity to pursue education and leadership in Zaire. I carry his legacy forward with Nsiona Impact. This venture is dedicated to creating sustainable change and empowering communities in Africa and Latin America- regions rich with potential yet underserved in ways that demand collaboration and innovation.
